Module summary

You already speak some Bulgarian but would like to become even better at using it?Few foreigners have mastered the Bulgarian language beyond elementary level, so fluency in it is a rare skill. The fast-approaching Bulgarian EU membership (1st January, 2007) now makes it also a valuable commodity, especially for students from languages, politics or business background. The module gives you a good opportunity to achieve greater confidence and fluency in using Bulgarian. Classes will build on language skills previously acquired and will expand your range of vocabulary and varieties of text and situation handled. You will be introduced to elements of Bulgarian history and culture in preparation for work with authentic language material. There will be two one-hour classes a week throughout Semester 1. The module is suitable for students who have successfully completed Beginning Bulgarian 1 & 2 or equivalent. For further information, please contact the module tutor Mrs S. Momova (s.b.momova@leeds.ac.uk), or the Departmental Secretary Mrs A. Guliyeva (A.Guliyeva@leeds.ac.uk).
