Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the theoretical underpinning and practice in:- Nomothetic and ideographic research methods
- Presentation skills
- Negotiation skills
- Personal and organisational factors affecting motivation
- Decision making and change
Syllabus
Team roles, assessment and group formation
The Nomothetic paradigm: deductive methodology and the implications of quantitative analysis.
The humanist critique: human mental capacity and inductive research methods.
Organisational structure and culture: methods of analysis.
Group working: issues concerning team working, leadership and communication.
Issues concerning power, conflict and negotiation, and implications for researchers.
Motivation, personality and perception.
Data gathering, analysis and application within the organisation.
The issues of change: personal and organisational.
