Objectives

To further develop understanding of the principles of construction management applied to the construction industry. The focus of the module is on the legal and procurement framework of construction.

- Introduction to Project Management
- Types of contract, conditions of contract, tendering Impact of European directives on tendering
- The process of planning; pre-tender/project
- Programming (pre-tender/project)
- Estimating and Cost Control
- Standard forms of Contract, Professional Services Contract, Duty of Care, Negligence, Corporate manslaughter
- Procurement Systems

Private study wll consist of reading in support of the module (32 hours) and exam preparation (36 hours).

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

There is no coursework in CIVE2901. Preparation for the exams are through formative examples on each topic placed on the VLE. VLE is monitored for engagement.
