Objectives
On completion of this module, students will understand how and why biology can be used to provide new and functional materials; understand how biology can lead nanoscience research as well as how nanoscience can be applied to biological problems; will have a thorough grounding in applications of bionanoscience and bionanomaterials science, including the scientific basis for technologies taught on the course.Syllabus
This module forms part of the MSc Nanomaterials for nanoengineering and the MSc Bionanotechnology. The module ensures that the materials training given in the nanosciences is given full coverage. It will introduce students to elements of bionanotechnology and biology and so provide breadth to their education. The course will involve characterization techniques, as well as synthetic and natural bionanomaterials; applications of bionanoscience to materials research, and applications of bionanomaterials.
