First degree in medicine, health or engineering. This module will form part of the University CDT programme working in conjunction with engineering.Or

Objectives
The module aims to extend student’s knowledge of the concepts and principles studied in other modules in innovation and provide critical understanding of innovation principles and practices in the commercialization of scientific research.Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
- Envision the steps required in the commercialization process
- Assess the basic viability of the commercial outcome from scientific research
- Apply theoretical knowledge in real world innovation projects
- Identify and manage the challenges/risks facing academia and industry
- Critically assess the commercialisation processes and policies of their own organization

Private study
Students are expected to spend around 90 hours working in groups on their project including time spent on a preparative report, researching the topic(s), planning the task, organising the task and producing the report.Students also are required to spend 3 hours each week to study and create a reflective log on the topic learned and finally use them to write up the reflective log essay at the end of the term as part of the formal assessment.
Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Students will receive formative feedback throughout the delivery of the module, particularly during the seminars and their group work. Their weekly log is read by the tutors each week to monitor and guide them. Students will meet in their groups with a member of the module staff to review progress provide guidance on projects. In addition written feedback will be provided for the formal assessments students undertakeMethods of assessment
