Objectives
To enable students to study the content of the Bible and how it functioned in medieval culture.Syllabus
The module will consist of weekly seminars in which such topics as transmission of the biblical text; the Bible, liturgy and religious expression; biblical imagery in medieval art; exegesis; the Bible and philosophical argument; biblical narrative and medieval literature will be discussed.
For the latter half of the semester, one seminar hour per week will be devoted to the detailed analysis of a section of biblical text.
