Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to:- demonstrate an understanding of the principal ideas, applications and techniques of computer vision, including the role of machine learning;
- demonstrate an understanding of the problems and solutions adopted in some of its main application areas;
- apply the theoretical knowledge gained in the module to the design of vision systems for solving specific problems.
Syllabus
Introduction to computer vision; image representation; review of image processing; segmentation; feature extraction; shape and intensity characterisation; geometry of projection and co-ordinate transformations; binocular and motion stereo; surface reconstruction; object recognition and tracking; qualitative spatial reasoning, case studies from research within the school.
