Module summary

Global Conversations is where students from around the world get together to discuss with local students from the region, a wide range of issues. If you are interested in joining us and improving your communication skills, which will enhance your employability, this module is for you.

Objectives

The aim of this module is to enable students from a wide range of global communities to improve their communication skills through the sharing of cultural understandings across a range of issues and settings from education to business, with Lifelong Learning Students based in the local region.

Learning outcomes
At the end of this module students will know how to:
- interpret basic theories around culture;
- select from a range of cultural aspects those with particular relevance to their audience;
- shape, structure and deliver individual presentations based upon personal experience and wider reading for different types of audience;
- reflect on their learning and developing skills, through maintaining a reflective practice blog.

Syllabus

Students will:
- be introduced to theories of culture; they will select from a range of cultural aspects those with particular relevance to their audience;
- learn how to shape, structure and deliver individual presentations based upon personal experience and wider reading for different types of audience;
- be introduced to reflective writing through keeping a blog or scrapbook that will enable you to link theory and practice.
