Students must have some experience of working with learners in a professional or voluntary capacity.

Module summary

Are you interested in working with learners? Do you have some experience in this area (this could be in variety of contexts: schools, nurseries, after-school clubs, play schemes, Brownies, swimming or other children’s clubs, libraries, museums etc)? If so, this module could be for you. The module aims to promote understanding of how specific approaches can enable learning, and to develop the key skills required for effective teaching, with an opportunity to practise these in a micro-teaching session.

- To identify the skills needed for the planning & effective delivery of a teaching session

Private study

- Key concepts such as teaching skills, lesson planning and classroom management will be introduced in lectures.
- Seminars will be used to apply theory to practice.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Students will be monitored by the tutors throughout the module in person & by email to ensure that they are clear about requirements & have developed the knowledge & understanding to produce a successful teaching session.
