Private study

Students will prepare for lectures: Reading material, videos, and radio recordings for the whole semester will be available on the VLE prior to teaching week 1.

Students will prepare for seminars: Students will be required to prepare the seminars in small groups. The groups will be required to give informal presentations that highlight their key findings and observations. Formative feedback is given to the presentations.

The practical sessions are small meetings with business leaders with significant experience in the Chinese economy. These sessions will be run in addition to the lectures and hosted by a student.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Students' progress will be monitored through (a) class discussion of the topics considered in the lectures, and (b) the participation in the seminars. During the seminars students will be expected to apply the theoretical knowledge gained during lectures (and across other modules) and their private study to the evaluation and discussion of case study questions and theory.
Students will be given feedback on their oral and written contributions by the peers and the lecturer during the lectures and the seminars. They will also be provided with suggested further information and responses to the case studies in written-form via the VLE after the seminar. General and individual formative feedback will be given in class and through the VLE.

Students can obtain formative feedback on a one-to-one basis from the lecturer outside the class setting.
