Module summary

This module aims to advance your knowledge of entrepreneurship through experiencing aspects the new venture creation process. Your learning will be supported by seminars, live case studies, guest speakers and practical (group and individual) exercises. This module will help you understand your own enterprise skills, business models and exploiting market opportunities in the context of the new venture creation process.

Objectives

The objectives of this module are: to give students an enhanced understanding of entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship in the context of new venture creation, the ability to develop and communicate new business ideas using business model theory and knowledge of digital marketing in the context of new venture creation.

Learning outcomes
A student completing this module will be able to:

- Research, develop and communicate new business ideas based on knowledge of the new venture creation process.
- Identify and apply key knowledge and theory relating to entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship for economic and social impact.

8. Markets: Understanding customers and competitors
9. Digital marketing: Understanding social media for enterprise
10. Integrated strategy: Developing an integrated strategy and business model

Private study

The module has a core text. There will also be a reading list.
1. In order to contribute to the seminars sessions and independent learning, students will be expected to read the academic literature, newspapers and online media relating to entrepreneurship and enterprise. Typically 60 hours.
2. Student groups will also work on a new venture creation exercise. Typically 40 hours.
3. Students will work independently on an assignment, which will draw on the module content and reading. Typically 63 hours.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Attendance will be expected at every seminar and panel session, and non-attendance without good reason will be followed up. Progress issues will be addressed informally during the interactive seminar sessions. Students will be encouraged to contribute to discussions in seminars and present ideas.
