Objectives
On completion of this module students will be able to:1. critically evaluate the value of the project/study programme to the workplace;
2. assess the short, medium and long-term impact of the project/ study programme for the organisation;
3. evaluate their own learning, that of others involved in the programme (with particular reference to the value of the 'learning set'), and the employing organisation;
4. identify ways in which the learning from the project work/study programme could be developed and utilised;
5. evaluate previous relevant research and learning in the project/study programme areas;
6. assess the potential to transfer the learning outcomes from the programme to meet organisational needs;
7. critically review Personal Development Plans to monitor progress and facilitate continued professional development;
8. review their own development on the programme by synthesising reflective elements of previous module submissions to inform their evaluation of the project and programme.
Syllabus
The aim of this module is to ensure that the student and the organisation for which s/he works draw maximum benefit from the period of study through the production of (a) a rigorous evaluation of the project and programme and its potential benefits for the organisation; and (b) a separate evaluation of the learning experience and its benefits both for the learner and for the development of a learning culture in the organisation. To facilitate this, coverage in the teaching sessions will include topics selected from: concepts in evaluation; evaluation strategies; critical analysis techniques; an evaluation of learning sets and group work as tools to aid learning; analysing approaches to study; further development of reflective writing techniques; the work-based approach to study; reviewing, evaluating and continuing personal development plans.
