Objectives
On completion of this module, students will be able to- Understand, analyse and evaluate various ideas related to leadership and change;
- Apply these to a range of issues in their own organisation and reflect on these in the context of their work as managers;
- Plan and complete a diagnosis of organisational issues and intervention;
- Critically reflect on results achieved and plan for future action.
Skills outcomes
- Complete an assessment of leadership and management capabilities;
- Involve others and consider alternative perspectives, including feedback on leadership performance in process of change;
- To be able to plan appropriate interventions to influence strategy leadership and change across an organisation as a whole.
Syllabus
Meanings of leadership and change and its changing role in contemporary business. Different models of leadership and change management skills, including traditional approaches and tools for thinking will be analysed.
Recent development in leadership and change theories, for example, chaos, complexity and emergence together with variety of tools for thinking, analysis and practice.
Leadership and business models, the whole organisation as a system, limiting leadership strategy and change.
Sources of help and support to deliver change.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Formative feedback will be provided through interactive discussion, and presentation of case study work and practical exercises in the seminar sessions. Delivery in two separate teaching blocks will allow for monitoring of progress and structured feedback.
