Objectives

This module aims to give students an understanding of the core concepts of international business strategy and an appreciation of the constraints upon it, its uncertainties and the potential for international expansion. This includes examining the internationalising firm and the constraints and opportunities of internationalisation.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this module students will be able to critically evaluate:
- the core concepts of International Business
- the dynamics and constraints of international business strategy
- the uncertainties and potential for the international expansion of a firm
- strategic issues from tactical decisions in areas such as international transfer pricing, knowledge management, joint ventures and foreign takeovers

Skills outcomes
On successful completion of this module students will:
- Apply the core concepts of international business to real business situations.
- Formulate coherent international plans in the context of the contemporary global economy
