Objectives

This module aims to develop the student’s knowledge and skills to better enable them to identify, evaluate, synthesise and apply research knowledge to diagnose, structure and gain insight into a challenging management issue or problem. In support of the above, the module aims to improve ethical application of research-related skills. Students will design and complete a practical research project.

Learning outcomes
On completion of this module students will be able to critically evaluate:
- current theoretical frameworks and models
- different research philosophies and methodologies for investigating a management issue or problem that is of more than day-to-day significance

Skills outcomes
On completion of this module students will be able to:
Transferable
- Communicate to an academic level in writing and through oral presentation
- Perform problem diagnostics and identify root causes and implement appropriate problem solving solutions

Subject Specific
- Locate and critically evaluate research (both academic and practical) relevant to a specific issue or problem
- Identify and apply ethically appropriate data gathering and analysis skills
