Objectives
This module aims to provide students with ownership of the skills and knowledge required for academic study, including those necessary to identify and evaluate research strategies, data collection methods and data analysis methods in the context of a particular project.Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
- Design and implement a research project including writing a research proposal
- Source and organise information and avoid information overload
- Apply theory to practice
- Select and deploy effectively appropriate strategies for data collection and analysis
- Communicate the results/outcomes of the project to an academic readership

Private study
Students will prepare for lectures, and will be required to work in groups in the seminars. Suggested material to prepare for both sessions will be available on the VLE prior to Week 1.Students will prepare for seminars: They will be required to work in groups in the seminars.
Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Students' progress will be monitored through class discussion. During these sessions students will be expected to apply the theoretical knowledge gained during lectures and their private study to discussion of case study questions and theory. They will be also invited to apply their knowledge and propose alternative methodologies to address in real problems discussed in the lectures.Methods of assessment
