Objectives
The objectives of the tutorial component are to develop study skills to underpin learning in other modules and to develop as an independent learner including:- Finding and evaluating information
- Scientific writing
- Oral presentation
- Data analysis
To begin to consider future career opportunities and develop skills and attributes to enhance employability.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this module students will:
- be able to search, access and reference the scientific literature correctly;
- be able to write a properly structured scientific essay or report;
- be able to present their results orally;
- calculate concentrations and analyse scientific data.
Syllabus
Students will learn how to:
- read and comprehend scientific literature;
- conduct literature searches;
- write formal scientific communications;
- give oral presentations, and
- discuss current issues relating to the public awareness of science, from a rational, scientific standpoint.
