Objectives
Steel DesignOn completion of this module, students should improve their knowledge and understanding on design and performance of steel structures.
Concrete Design
On completion of this module, students should understand the fundamentals of prestressed concrete design and design of simple prestressed concrete beams.

Steel Design:
Design of simple multi-storey buildings
Design of rigid multi-storey buildings, braced and unbraced construction
Lattice construction
Design of moment connections
Construction issues in steel
Prestressed Concrete Design:
Introduction to prestressing
Design of sections to meet service stress limits and deflection limits
Estimation of losses of prestress
Design of sections for the ultimate limit state
Indeterminate structures
Classes of prestressing and partial prestressing
