Module summary

Learn to speak basic Cantonese! The module covers the pronunciation, tones, grammar and vocabulary of Cantonese. Classes include dialogue, role-play, and learning from audiotapes. You will be able to conduct simple conversations in Cantonese at the end of the course. Suitable for non-native speakers of Chinese.

Objectives

On completion of this module, students should have mastered the pronunciation, tones and the basic sentence patterns of Cantonese and should be able to conduct simple situational dialogues in Cantonese.

Syllabus

The module covers the pronunciation, tones, basic grammar and vocabulary of Cantonese. Dialogues, role-play and audio tapes are used to develop oral and aural skills.
