Module summary

This module is aimed at you if you are a student interested in developing your own research skills and applying them to a real world project.

Objectives

The aim of this module is to give students an experience of designing and carrying out a research project on an area of the programme that has taken their interest. This can be a subject- based or professional- based issue.
Students will build on the learning from their year one research project and will carry out a more substantial piece of research that considers how local issues relate to a global picture.

Learning outcomes
At the end of this module students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how to:
-plan a research project on a subject of interest to them
-carry out the project
-address ethical issues in the project
-write up the project

Syllabus

The module will be a supervised research project of the student's own choice. Students will be expected to apply previous learning from the level 1 module, Research project (1) to create and carry out their own project, with supervision. The subject of the research project is likely to have arisen from an area of the wider programme. Students would also be expected to think about how local issues might relate to a wider social/ global context.
