Objectives
This module prepares a student to lead innovation initiatives in both large and established organizations as well as in new and growing ventures. The module navigates between different concepts and perspectives in order to unveil how organizations take strategic advantage from incremental and radical changes in products, services, business models and societal aspirations.Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to critically evaluate:
- the process of innovation and its importance
- the different types of innovation and the interactions among them
- links between innovation and strategy and entrepreneurship

- Analytically underpin and influence decision making process
Subject Specific:
- Link theory and practice by applying innovation concepts to issues and pitfalls for managing discontinuous innovation
- Formulate and implement strategic innovation plans

Syllabus
Ten interconnected topics will be discussed at lectures accompanied by interactive seminars aligned to each of the topics:
Session 1: Innovation dynamics and competitive advantage
Session 2: Types of Innovation
Session 3: Behavioural foundations of innovation
Session 4: Managing Innovation within the firm
Session 5: Managing for Creativity
Session 6: Corporate Entrepreneurship
Session 6: Innovation networks

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Monitoring will take place through the classes in terms of attendance, contribution to discussion and quality of material prepared for use in group exercises and other class work.Formative assessment will be available through feedback on tasks and group work and group presentations.
