Objectives
The module aims to develop and assess students’ academic, professional and employability skills and to develop personal development planning techniques.Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the module students will be able to:
- Assess international marketing management careers
- Analytically summarise how to compete effectively in an international job market
- Critically evaluate academic theories

Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
- identify and set personal objectives for academic and career development
- reflect on their learning and the development of their professional and employability skills
- produce a professional CV and LinkedIn profile
- practice and develop their ability to perform successfully in company interviews and assessments
- work as an effective team player
- apply academic theories and present reasoned and logical arguments
- formulate and deliver a professional presentation
- Compose documents and communications with advanced academic writing skills
Syllabus
This is an outline of the indicative content:
Teaching takes place during semesters 1 and 2
Introduction to the module – professional and employability skills
Team roles and dynamics, developing an effective team
Academic writing skills for taught masters – writing an academic essay
How to deliver a successful presentation
Reflecting and reviewing your personal professional development
An insight into the professions - guest speakers from the marketing industry
Your personal marketing strategy – creating a professional CV and on line profile
Preparing for employer interviews and assessments

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Attendance will be expected at every session. The seminar teaching format also ensures ample opportunity for discussion and testing student comprehension and progress. Also opportunity for individual meetings.Informal feedback during seminars and individual meetings.
- 2 pieces of assessed written work to be returned to students with feedback.
- Immediate feedback on presentation skills and interview skills.
