Good honours degree in philosophy or theology and religious studies

This module is not approved as an Elective

Objectives

On completion of this module, students should have an advanced understanding of key issues in the metaphysics of theism, and be able to apply philosophical techniques to central questions of Christian doctrine.

Syllabus

This module will explore, at an advanced level, metaphysical problems raised by Christian doctrine. Topics will be chosen from the following list:
(a) Time and creation: issues concerned with God's relation to time and causal relation to the world;
(b) Trinity and incarnation: issues concerned with the idea of three persons in one Godhead, the embodiment of God, and Christ's dual nature;
(c) Immortality and resurrection: issues concerned with Christian views of the soul and its relation to the body.
