Objectives

Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students should be able to:
- apply and develop knowledge and skills from previous levels;
- understand and explain the difference between mono-, multi- and interdisciplinary;
- explain the implications of working with different client groups;
- apply interdisciplinary analysis to a chosen issue pertinent to sport and Exercise Science;
- critically assess the advantages and disadvantages of inter-disciplinary analysis for Sport and exercise Science issues.


Syllabus

- Introduction to the course;
- Definitions of mono-, multi- and inter-disciplinary in Sport and exercise Science;
- A multi- and mono- disciplinary assessment of the aetiology of overuse injuries;
- Four interdisciplinary keynote lectures chosen by the Sport and Exercise Science staff;
- Two staff-led seminars of contemporary issues taken from the keynote lectures;
- Group choice of an interdisciplinary topic related to Sport and Exercise Science;
- Oral presentations of the chosen interdisciplinary issues;
- Choice of sports and exercise science test for interdisciplinary critique.
