Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to:
- understand and apply the principles of experimental planning;
- retrieve, manage, interrogate and display scientific data (references, gene sequences, protein structures);
- apply (commonly used) statistical tests in the critical evaluation of data.
Syllabus
This module aims to equip life scientists with essential skills for the collection of, management of and interpretation of scientific information.
The course will combine principles and practice in the areas of information retrieval & management; scientific philosophy & experimental design; data handling, presentation and interpretation; and bioinformatic interrogation of sequence and structure.
