Objectives

- To be aware of the principles of risk management
- To identify sources of risk
- To quantify the effects of risk
- To undertake a simple risk analysis for a civil engineering project
- To be aware of the role of risk management in the management of construction projects

Syllabus

- Risk Management theory, the definition of terms and basic methodologies adopted in civil engineering and construction projects.
- Risk Management approaches, dealing with Identification, Assessment, Response and Management of Residual Risk.
- Sensitivity Analysis and Monte-Carlo Simulation and an overview of Risk Management Software, RMS, when and how to use.
- Risk Registers - purpose, management applications.
- Introduction to Uncertainty Management, the relationship between risk and opportunity.
- Case Studies of Risk Management over the project life cycle.
