Objectives

By the end of the MPhys module, you should be able to:

- contrast different approaches to learning and teaching in another culture;
- illustrate your initiative and commitment to study during the placement abroad;
- successfully complete a selection of modules of the host University at the appropriate level.

Skills outcomes
The ability to adapt to a new learning environment in a different culture.

Syllabus

The syllabus depends upon the courses offered by the host institute. Wherever possible, the experience of previous students is used as a guide to the enrolment on suitable courses (which complement the physics courses at Leeds).

At our partner institutions there is often a greater emphasis placed on continuous assessment and rigid homework deadlines. We have specifically chosen partner universities because of the quality of their physics programmes. All marks obtained during the year are moderated and converted into a Leeds- equivalent overall mark, which will be incorporated into the final MPhys degree classification.

There is email contact with the module leader at Leeds, as well as a slightly more formal update in each semester, but the students follow the assessment arrangements in existence at the host institution.
