Module summary

This module is designed to allow students to develop research and planning skills through a creative portfolio in one of three areas of practice:• Fictional screen narrative• Documentary film treatment• Photographic exhibition It will enable students to undertake portfolio work, building on projects initiated in previous modules* and undertake methodological training in preparation for extended projects at level 3. The objectives of this module are for students to understand :

- Methodological approaches appropriate to the design and delivery of a piece of critically reflective practice
- The relationships between critical ideas and practice
- The role of practice as a research method
- The importance of self reflection and the critical analysis of practice

Private study

Throughout the course of this module students will be engaged in guided reading and practice based exercises
leading to the production of assessed creative practice and associated critical analysis and evaluation.

The period of private study will be a combination of critical and historical reading and the development of practice towards the submission of the assessed creative practice.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Students will be monitored via the summative assessment process, receiving feedback at each stage.

They will also be monitored via the tutorial and practical sessions as they develop their submissions.
