Syllabus

Due to the varied opportunities for the year abroad, the syllabus will differ from student to student. Students should make themselves familiar with the requirements for the year abroad as laid out in the Residence Abroad Options Handbook and in the Work Placement Handbook. These documents are available on the VLE.

Students at a university must take modules equal to 50 ECTS credits (40 ECTS credits for beginners) over the 2 semesters, and pass examinations for at least 25 credits (20 for beginners).
Students on a work placement or British Council Language assistantship must provide a satisfactory report from their employer at the end of the year.

In addition, all students must complete (in Italian):
1. Questionario (to be submitted by the end of December; not assessed);
2. Grammar exercises and translations (self-correcting) and three compositions (to be submitted by the end of March; assessed)
3. A 1,200-word research project, Progetto (to be submitted by the end of May; assessed)

Full guidelines on the three compulsory assignments are provided in the Residence Abroad Options Handbook and on the VLE.
