Objectives

On completion of this module, students should be able...

To investigate and describe the chosen topic and to enable the development of critical analysis skills in reference to a topic on security and justice;
To enable students to develop their research and writing skills;
To enable students to approach a given topic and research and analyse their chosen topic through an inter-disciplinary framework.


Learning outcomes
Students will:

- Demonstrate in-depth and critical understanding of an area in security and justice;
- Demonstrate the ability to plan and implement a research project;
- Apply themselves to conducting independent research.

Syllabus

The dissertation should not exceed 15,000 words on a topic approved by the MA Security and Justice course convener at a date to be confirmed.

Private study

Students will be expected to research their chosen topic in accordance to the guidance from their supervisor. Students will be expected to implement their research strategy (whether this be fieldwork or library-based) and to plan their research and writing time.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

The dissertation will be supervised by contact with the student through regular meetings agreed between the supervisor and student.
