Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to access and make effective use of the IT facilities available both on and off-campus, including:- essential features of the current campus operating system;
- using online resources (the library catalogue; Leeds for Life);
- have an understanding of the meaning and implications of plagiarism.
Syllabus
The module is designed to provide training in the online and some of the associated skills required by UG students of modern languages. The module is delivered entirely online, via the VLE.
Students complete a skills and knowledge audit by following a series of online exercises at their own pace covering:
- use of the VLE;
- use of the online library catalogue;
- using the Language Centre;
- plagiarism, and how to avoid it;
- using Leeds for Life; and
- effective exploitation of the online resources available in the University and on the WWW.
