Module summary
The module provides post-graduate students on the masters in Culture, Creativity and Entrepreneurship the the theoretical cornerstones to underpin their understanding of the whole programme of study. Students will evaluate and analyze in depth different theoretical perspectives on a range of areas within the cultural industriesObjectives
The objectives of this module are to develop theoretical understandings of the contemporary interaction of culture and creativity with entrepreneurship within the context of wider academic and policy debates about the significance of the cultural and creative industries.Learning outcomes
On completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Define and locate the fields of culture, creativity and entrepreneurship within the broader context of social, economic and cultural theory.
2. Understand, apply and critique key concepts such as cultural industries, creative industries and the creative economy.
3. Examine the theoretical interaction between concepts of creativity and entrepreneurship.
4. Interrogate the role of public policy in relation to contemporary strategies for developing the cultural and creative industries.
Syllabus
Students will study the concepts of culture, creativity and entrepreneurship as key theoretical corner-stones of the programme. The module draws out the distinctive ways in which their interaction is a characteristic feature of UK city and regional strategy and interrogates the links with public policy.
