Objectives
1. To provide students with the opportunity to develop advanced skills in fieldwork activities including: selecting and applying sampling frameworks; data collection and analysis methods; and team-working.2. To develop student awareness of the limitations of different methodological approaches.
3. To extend student presentation skills in both written and verbal formats
4. To provide students with problem solving exercises to develop team work, decision making and self management.
The fieldwork for this module will take place at a date to be confirmed. There is a cost involved to this fieldcourse which is payable in instalments - the cost is to be confirmed.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this module you will be able to:
1. Apply theoretical knowledge in practice
2. Design and apply sampling frameworks in different fieldwork situations
3. Demonstrate advanced skills in data collection, fieldwork methods and data analysis
4. Evaluate ecological approaches in management planning
5. Evaluate human modifications to the environment
6. Be aware of the ethical and moral issues of undertaking ecological investigations.

Stream hydrology and nutrient budgets
Aquatic ecology
The final 2 days are a group research project on the Slapton National Nature Reserve

2 hours of directed reading to be given out before the fieldtrip commences and during the 2 1-hour pre-briefing lectures.Opportunities for Formative Feedback
- Submission of daily research reports on the activities and learning that has taken place on each day (Summative).- Advice and feedback will be provided by staff while daily activities are taking place (Formative).
