Objectives

On completion of this modules, students will be able to complete a project, on an exploration structural geological/geophysical subject, lasting for at least 4 months full-time.

Syllabus

Investigation of a structural geological/geophysical subject - chosen by the student in consultation with sponsor/teaching staff. The specification and content of each project is unique but all will involve primary data interpretation and synthesis, together with a contextual review which in most cases will involve comparison with previous literature.

Projects could involve collaboration with an industry partner, carried out partially at their office and/or those of University-based companies; 4 moths duration, including preparation time for assessments an final outcome; and university advisor (1 guidance from an industry mentor); represent an appropriate volume of independent data handling, analysis, and critical assessment.
