Pre-requisite qualifications
Having completed successfully the module SPPO 1091 or having completed a qualification in Spanish Language equivalent to As Spanish or having a level of linguistic competence of A2 of the CEFR.If students have completed Spanish at A Level and wish to continue learning the language it is recommended that they choose SPPO1010 in leiu of this module.

Module summary
This module enables students with an AS in Spanish or similar level of linguistic competence in Spanish to further develop their language skills and to complete the level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).Language Learning in this module is student-centred and task-based. The classroom is conceived as a social space for communication. Both written and oral tasks will be set.Objectives
At the end of this module students will be able to:- understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc;
- deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken;
- produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest;
- describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
Learning outcomes
- Relevant grammar points at an Intermediate level;
- Understanding of some relevant current affairs and life in Spain and Latin America explored in the course of the language learning-tasks;
- A vocabulary around the topics and areas covered.
Syllabus
The module will follow the textbook Aula 3 Internacional (Barcelona: Difusión).
Texts used and vocabulary introduced in class will cover a wide range of thematic areas relating to current affairs and life in Spain and Latin America.
