Private study

Private study is required for preparation of presentation and self-reading associated with coursework completion.

There are two sets of presentations. The first set is an unmarked exercise, allowing students to develop the ability to research the assigned topic and to convey findings. The experience will feed into preparation of the second presentation which will be formally assessed.

There are two assessed courseworks. Students are expected to research the given topic and create a contextual coherent argument in the submitted report.

Support to private study will be offered by face-to-face discussions, as well as by VLE forums.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Students’ learning progress will be monitored via guided studies, as well as performance in assessed presentation and coursework.

Feedback for the first presentation (unassessed) will be provided prior to preparation of the second presentation, which is formally assessed.

Courseworks: feedback for the first coursework will be provided before the second coursework is distributed.

Feedback for presentation and coursework will be provided at individual as well as class levels.
Leaning outcome from the presentation will be fed to Coursework 2.

Methods of assessment

Coursework
Assessment typeNotes% of formal assessment
EssayCoursework 1 (1000 words)30.00
EssayCoursework 2 (2000 words)50.00
PresentationVerbal Presentation20.00
Total percentage (Assessment Coursework)100.00

The assessments are designed to facilitate the progressive gain of knowledge and skills. Experience gained from the first presentation (unassessed) will help to improve performance in the second presentation (which is marked). Likewise, feedback given on the first coursework will help in preparation of the second coursework (both marked). The second presentation will also provide the basis for the second coursework, so the knowledge gained from the presentation will help students to complete the coursework.
