Objectives

To provide training in analysis of numerical data, problem solving, teamwork and presentation skills.

Learning outcomes
At the end of the modules students will be able to:
- demonstrate an appreciation of the approaches used to study biochemical processes;
- understand the use of a range of biochemical laboratory equipment and practical techniques and the data generated;
- feel confident in the handling of numerical data and simple mathematical transformations thereof.

Syllabus

The course will consist of 20 small group tutorials to develop the students' ability to (i) handle, transform and interpret numerical data, and (ii) interpret experimental results in order to solve biochemical problems.

Each tutorial will be centred around a biochemical problem based on a topic covered in BIOC1301 or BIOC1302. Through the series of tutorials, students will gain confidence in handling numbers and the use of common graphing software and enhance their teamwork and presentation skills.
