Objectives
On the completion of the module, students should be able to:- appreciate the role of usability and user experience in interactive computer applications;
- understand the foundations of designing interactive systems;
- understand the structure of user interface toolkits;
- implement graphical applications using a user interface toolkit;
- design for effective human-computer interaction;
- develop low-fidelity prototypes for human-computer interfaces;
- implement simple applications for a mobile device.

- Physical & cognitive limits of human sensory apparatus;
- Interactive systems architectures; usability and user experience;

- Colour representations;
- Desktop graphics;
- Event loops and user interaction;
- Desktop user interface toolkits (e.g. Qt);
- Mobile interface toolkits (e.g. Android / iOS).
- Process of interaction design;
- Techniques for establishing requirements, design, prototyping and evaluation of interfaces.
- A major piece of design work as practical.
