Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to:- define the common terms and methods used in pathology
- distinguish the features of acute and chronic inflammation
- understand the principles of wound healing
- describe the routes by which infection can spread
- understand the general principles of immunology
- understand the nature and features of neoplasia
- have a working knowledge of the common pathological conditions relevant to patient's medical histories
- describe the relevant diseases of childhood and their dental implications
- describe the classifications and characteristics of micro-organisms
- understand the relationship between micro-orgamisms and disease
- describe in detail the modes of transmission of disease
- describe in details the principles of infection control
- demonstrate ability to implement effective infection control procedures in practice.
