Syllabus

The module will be run in student-led seminar-style classes. A variety of contemporary and important texts from the fields of politics and law in China will be chosen - given the contemporary nature of this course, the specifics of individual texts will necessarily vary from year to year.

The classes will consist of close readings of these texts, and discussion of implied meanings and the contexts from which they were produced. Key texts covered will concern either political topics such as China's democracy movement, or recently passed laws and statutes.
