Applicants should normally possess a honours degree in a relevant discipline, or a medical degree, and be working in primary care.

Objectives

On completion of this module, students should:
- have developed knowledge and understanding of the principles of adult educational theory, as it relates to personal, peer, professional, personnel and patient learning in primary care teaching/supervision.

Learning outcomes
On completion of this module students should be able to:
1. demonstrate an understanding of educational theory;
2. apply their undertstanding of educational theory to their own learning and teaching;
3. formulate learning needs which are appropriate to the learners situation;
4. select and use appropriate methods to achieve thses learning needs;
5. design, implement and evaluate a curriculum appropriate to the learner and area of study.

Skills outcomes
This module will provide students with understanding of the basic concepts of learning and teaching in adult education so that they are able to apply them to their own learning and teaching. Students will have increased their skills in teaching and facilitation in different setting including the development of teaching skills in others.
