Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to:- Reflect on the effectiveness of their practice using a relevant knowledge base
- Demonstrate an adherence to professional values and to the provision of ethically sound practice
- Be familiar with and able to apply self management skills
- Identify current levels of skills and knowledge and prioritise training needs
- Have a working knowledge of issues relevant to working in the addiction field
- Have a working knowledge of general professional conduct i.e. diversity, confidentiality, accessing resources
Syllabus
This module develops the skills necessary to identify training needs and competencies when working in the substance misuse field. The syllabus ranges from information on using the library and sourcing relevant literature and how to use it, to identifying current relevant topics such as diversity, national policy, service provision, service user involvement and professional conduct.
An integral element of the syllabus is learning about reflective practice in terms of what this is and how it is used. This is covered in two ways; there is a specific teaching session but also it will be re-vsitied as it is intergrated into skills practice.
This module has flexibility to encompass the learning needs of individual students.
