Module summary
This module provides an ethical framework for practice in substance misuse interventions.Objectives
This module aims to provide an appreciation and understanding of the ethical underpinnings of professional practice.Learning outcomes
On completion of this module students should be able to:
- reflect on practice using a relevant knowledge base.
- describe general professional conduct with regards to diversity, confidentiality, accessing resources.
- reflect on the therapeutic aspects and processes of practice using relevant knowledge base.
- demonstrate self-managment skills.
- understand, explain and plan for the effective use of supervision.
- identify current levels of skills and knowledge and prioritise training needs.
- demonstrate a working knowledge of the audit process and its application.
- describe and apply the principles of safeguarding adults and children.
Skills outcomes
Ability to adhere to governance requirements and ethical codes of conduct.
Syllabus
The syllabus covers the following topics:
- professional conduct with service users and colleagues identifying good practice with reference to diversity, confidentiality, equality of access, identification and management of resources.
- core skills of effective therapeutic practice.
- training needs analysis.
- time management and supervision planning.
- audit conduct, presentation and review.
- safeguarding adults and children: policy and practice
