The syllabus familiarises students with the theoretical origins of Social Behaviour and Network Therapy and its application in complex cases with co-morbidity and degrees of complexity. Knowledge and understanding will be gained on the impact of substance misuse, social harm and the effects on third parties, and on audit and evaluation of the intervention. Skills are developed for recruiting a social network, assessing the social network, helping the client with complex needs to identify new resources, setting goals for the network, planning tasks which address multiple needs and obtaining feedback on progress from the network. The intervention is manual based and student learning is determined by their ability to adhere to the manual based protocol.
