Objectives

The aim of this module is to enable students to develop a range of academic skills required at undergraduate level and to engage with a range of interpersonal and professional skills required to operate effectively within organisations.

Learning outcomes
On completion of the module students will be able to:
Apply IT and research skills to the standard expected within academic contexts
Produce academic writing using appropriate academic conventions
Apply interpersonal and communication skills in business and academic contexts
Produce employment application documentation following stated criteria and specifications
Evaluate and reflect on academic skills and develop improvement strategies where necessary.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Students have the opportunity to discuss assignment planning and submit drafts of work for feedback on writing and critical thinking. Drafts of the summative module assessment can be submitted at specific points throughout the year to encourage the process of researching, planning, drafting, editing and managing an assignment over a period of time. Fortnightly meetings allow for regular discussion of student progress and communication via email is encouraged to develop students’ capacities to engage in appropriate written exchanges via electronic media
