Objectives

This module will provide you with the core knowledge in human biology that will inform your work as a Nursing Associate. Understanding core biological functions and how the environment and lifestyle can impact on health will provide you with fundamental concepts that underpin Healthcare practice. This will provide you with the ability to apply biological knowledge in the context of a patient-centred approach

Learning outcomes
On completion of the module students should have provided evidence of being able to:
Demonstrate a familiarity with the basic concepts of anatomy and physiology which are associated with the theory and practice of work as a nursing associate.
Demonstrate the knowledge required to work across organisational boundaries in a range of health and care settings and apply, in practice, the range of clinical and care skills appropriate to the level of practice.
Exercise those skills, attitudes and behaviours that support the planning, delivery and evaluation of high quality person-centred, holistic care.
Communicate effectively maintaining the focus of communication on delivering and improving health and care.

Describe the structure and functions of the human body
Describe common physical, mental health and learning disability conditions
Discuss how physiological systems regulate bodily function.
Apply the biological knowledge to healthcare interventions

This module aims to apply theoretical knowledge to clinical practice. The students will be encouraged to complete guided study packages and blended learning to support this learning.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Student will be given 4x30 mins formative MCQ's over the taught period to ensure understanding and to provide feedback on teaching and learning methods.
