Module summary
This module is aimed at you if you are a student interested in aspects of innovation and originality in new thinking and in exploring contemporary issues from interdisciplinary perspectives.Objectives
The aim of this module is to enable students to gain an overview of individuals and schools of thought and research paradigms that impact most on contemporary ideas, knowledge and life.It will promote critical engagement with the literature devoted to the different disciplines and will seek to encourage students to reflect on shifting and changing modern ideas.
Students will be expected to take more responsibility for their own research and exploration of contemporary schools of thought.

At the end of this module students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:
-competing/ complementary theoretical perspectives and research paradigms
-critical engagement with conceptual problems.
-the application of theoretical insights relating to contemporary thinking and its impact
-skills required for the clear and accurate communication of ideas

Syllabus
The module will cover:
- An overview of the concept of contemporary thinking and its impact within different disciplinary contexts.
- An introduction to cutting edge contemporary research
- An in-depth exploration of 3 different contemporary schools of thought
- Ethical issues in contemporary thinking and the impact of contemporary thinking.

The module will use case studies and specific examples relevant to the latest contemporary thinking to illustrate the concept of contemporary thinking and its impact.
