Module summary
This module will allow you to develop an understanding of the process of planning and then undertaking a piece of your own research. You will be introduced to the underlying philosophical positions that underpin the contrasting approaches to research and you will examine the various elements of the research process and the ethical considerations when undertaking a piece of individual research.Objectives
The aims of the module are to:-Develop an understanding of the key aspects of the research process within a business management context
-Develop critical analysis skills

On completion of the module you will be able to:
Critically analyse existing literature
Analyse data using quantitative techniques
Demonstrate an understanding of research philosophies
Identify the ethical considerations when undertaking piece of primary research
Skills outcomes
Undertake a literature review using relevant databases
Construct research instruments
Analyse and interpret research data
Syllabus
-The philosophy of research and research paradigms
-Formulation of research objectives, questions and hypotheses
-An understanding of potential data collection methods
-Analysis and reporting of quantitative and qualitative research data
-Conducting an appropriate literature review
-Ethical issues in business and management research
