Module summary
This module provides you with the opportunity to undertake a piece of your own original research in an area of business management. Working with your academic supervisor, you will plan and then carry out your own research, collect and analyse your own research data and then prepare a work based research project.Objectives
The aim of the module is to allow the student to plan and undertake research and produce a research report on an area of business management. The module builds on and further develops the research skills introduced in the LLLC 2275 - Research MethodsLearning outcomes
On completion of the module you will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the different stages of the research process
- Justify your choice of research methodology
- Plan and undertake a piece of original research
- Apply quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
Skills outcomes
Ability to:
- plan and monitor progress of a research project;
- undertake a critical review of the literature;
- collect, analyse and interpret quantitative research data;
- prepare a research report.
Syllabus
Consideration of theory and practice in relation to:
- The different stages of the research process;
- Research design and research methodologies;
- Qualitative and quantitative research techniques;
- Research ethics.
