Module summary
Corporate Finance provides a critical understanding of the key theoretical principles for effective financial decision making in a corporate enterprise and develop a practical understanding of the use of financial theory in business and financial markets. The module relates theory to current corporate business practice and requires you to be able to confidently use, interpret and manipulate financial formulas and numerical data. It provides a basis for further study of more specialist modules in finance.Objectives
The module aims to provide a critical appreciation of the fundamental concepts in corporate finance as a basis for further study of more specialist aspects of finance and financial markets. Specifically, it will give students critical knowledge of the key theoretical principles for effective financial decision making in a corporate enterprise and the use of financial theory in business and financial markets and the skills to apply that knowledge to consider specific financial decisions.Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to critically evaluate:
- key theories of corporate finance in relation to risk, investment appraisal and corporate financing decisions
- corporate finance theories to the financial management process within corporate enterprises
- problems encountered by corporate financial managers
